DonBarrum
I have had a lot of problems with 1950x and ram compatibility. But I hope the new 2950x will be more acceptable to large amounts of fast ram. Does any list exist of what ram is supported? Like will the CMK128GX4M8X3600C18 work in its branded speed of 3600MhZ? Or what would be the best and fastest 128gb Corsair ram kit I can buy for the 2950X that actually work in the branded xmp speed?
Corsair Employees Corsair Art Posted August 15, 2018 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 15, 2018 I'd stay at under 3000mhz for the platform. -Art
DonBarrum
ok so 2933Mhz 128gb is feasable? Threadripper 2 should be more acceptible to different ram types from what I read. Do you have a list of kits which you have tested and confirmed working on its markeded speeds for 2950x ?

I'd check out the specific motherboard's QVL, which board are you going with? -Art
DonBarrum
I own the Asus Zenith Extreme and currently has the 1950X but I recon the new Threadripper 2 CPUs have better memory support - so I will keep the motherboard but replace the ram. THe Asus Zenith Extreme memory comatibility document is completely outdated. It came out a while ago, and has only a couple 128kits of very low frequency listed...which is why its difficult to get some proper information from anywhere. For that much memory I'd agree and go with low frequency.
