eXceeNt
I purchased the H80 back in 2012, and it's been a solid product ever since. I poked around in my PC the other day and noticed one of the fans on the radiator had failed. So I'm looking to replace both, but want to make sure I don't order the wrong product. These fans have 3-pin connectors, so I'm assuming they are standard case fans (without PWM). So I should be able to order any standard 120mm case fan, is that right? FWIW, I'm looking at the ARCTIC F12 on Amazon. But I'll take any suggestions. Any feedback, especially on whether my assumption is correct, would be appreciated. c-attack
Any 3 pin DC motor should work, but to be honest it has been a long time since I had a meaninful discussion about that cooler. Any quirks may have been lost to time. If you are going to run them from the pump fan controller, it is pretty much low, medium, and high (5v, 7v, 12v?), so I suppose a rough percentage calculation before hand will make sure it runs where you want it. Without getting into a discussion about other fan brands, the specific model you mentioned has 9 thin and steeply raked blades. This makes it more suitable for unobstructed airflow locations, rather than the moderate resistance of a radiator. However, that does NOT mean it won't put air through the radiator and will make your temps terrible. At higher speeds, it may make little difference. However, if you really like to keep the fans low, it may not be as efficient as a fan with thicker, flatter blades.
