boot loop

I had a matched pair of Value Select (VS512MB400) running on a PC Chips T12 (i865pe). Now, when I boot, the system sends itself into a permanent cycle, crashing right after the device check, either immediately rebooting, or freezing. However, when I remove one of the sticks, it works fine, and when I put the suspected one back in alone, it returns to the loop.

 

Have tried booting with any/all/no IDE,PCI devices connected, and nothing changes.

 

summary:

mod A works

mod B loops

mods A + B (Dual channel or single channel) loop.

 

suspect mod B is bad.

 

System:

Windows XP Pro (up to date)

i865pe

P4 2.6 (800fsb)

2x 512 DDR400 (minus one at present)

XFX GeForce 6600 GT (AGP)

1x 120GB Deskstar

1x 200GB Seagate SATA Barracuda
