Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

Recommended Posts

Built my first AMD and have been having some growing pains. There is some question as to if I got the correct ram or not. Would appreciate hearing from the experts!

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

Video: evga 6800Ultra SLI card

Memory Corsair TWINX2048-3200PT 2GB DDR400 XMS3200 running two.

Question is did I screw up? Was I supposed to get a C2 version?

Also the board has a menu which has about 12 items which can be set. Presently have it set to auto so didn't have to change anything. Have been having some random reboots with all the latest drivers and machine locks up when trying to run Amercias Army although runs Far Cry well. Seems like this is memory related. When I run 3DMark05 I get an overall rating of 5,200 which I'm not sure is good or not but it sure seems slow hence gotta think memory again.

Any one got any ideas? Any help would be appreciated!!

That RAM is CAS 2.

The PT refers to the heat spreader color.

The timings should be 2.5-3-3-6 @ 400MHz.

Sorry to be so dense, but Savage are you saying that the C2 and PT are the same chip? And that I'm ok? Also where can I go to find which of the settings I need to change.

Presently set as follows:

CAS # Latency = 3.0

Row cycle time (tRC) = 11 Bus Clock

Row Refresh Time (tREC) = 14 Bus Clock

RAS # to CAS # Delay (tREC) = 3 Bus Clock

Row to Row Delay (tRCD) = 2 Bus Clock

Min RAS Active Time (tRAS) = 8 Bus Clock

Row Precharge Time (tRP) = 3 Bus Clock

Write to Precharge time (tWP) = 3 Bus Clock

Write to Read time (tWTR) = 2 Bus Clock

Read to Write Delay (tRWT) = 4 Bus Clock

Refresh Period (tREF) = 2 x 3120 Cycles

Enable 2T Time = Auto

What if anything do I need to change?
