From the version (3.3.103) of iCue, up to the current version (3.5.111) the ML140 Pro RGB fans rotate around 1200 RPM while the Commander Pro is in quiet mode.

In the version (3.2.87) of iCue this worked perfectly:

Quiet: around 650 RPM.

Balanced: around 950 RPM.

Extreme: around 1200 RPM.

Equipment:

i7 8700K

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC)

G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB DDR4 3200MHz

Asus ROG Strix Geforce GTX 1080

2 Corsair ML140 Pro RGB Fan

There was definitely something weird with the Quiet fan curve in 3.4.xx. In 3.5.11, Quiet makes my HD140 run at about 50% with cores in the 29-31C range. Since we can't see the control points for these curves, it is something of a mystery. We do know they are linked to CPU temp and that is not always the most satisfying or effective control variable on the rather dynamic recent Intel CPUs.

I think the majority of people are better off making their own fan curves so they can set to their specifications. It is impossible to make one set of control points for all environments and you may have a 10C swing between Summer and Winter. Even if you don't have a better control source available, at least you can really mute the fan response in the 30-45C range and that should quiet things at idle.
