shminty
Hi, I've just bought 1gb of Corsair twinX ddr550 pc4400c25 and I just can't get my system to work properly with it in. I keep getting loads of shutdowns, and normally when i restart I get a DCOM error in the event viewer. I have done a memtest on the ram overnight and it was clear, also rechecked that the ram is compatible with my board (AV8) and it is according to Corsair. I have also reverted back to my original 4 sticks of geil pc3200, and everything works fine with them. Bios settings look in order, timings are 2.5 4-4-8 at 1T, but still it won't work Have I missed something? Virtual memory is 1534, and it isn't a paged file (or something like that ) Do dual ddr sticks definitely go into the first two dimms on the av8? Hope someone can spot the mistake, I presume I haven't set it up right. Would it work better at 2T 2.5-3-3-7? Cheers! _________________ AMD64 3500+ Winchester Abit 3rd Eye AV8 revision 1.1 (BIOS 1.7) Seagate Barracuda 7200 200Gb Gainward Ultra 2004 Golden Sample 6800GT 1GB Corsair twinX ddr550 pc4400c25 SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS

shminty
Can you give more info. CPU voltage, ram voltage, multi, fsb/mhz..etc..? First I tried to get it to work at stock; 1.4v cpu 2.75v ram (later upped to 2.8v with a small increase in stability) 11x multiplier @ 204mhz ram timings were as above This wasn't working so then I tried overclocking it to 2.5 gig on a 10x multiplier therefore making the ram work at 500mhz effectively, I thought maybe the ram didn't like being too overclocked. I also upped the cpu voltage to 1.45 and then 1.50 to try and get some stability, and tried changing the timings to 2.5-3-3-7. It became more stable like this but still the crashes continued. One thing i have noticed is that no matter what ram i use, windows will never boot when i switch the ram to 1T, so assume I am always using 2T.
