CMX512-2700C2 Problem

Have two sticks of Corsair "Extreme Memory Speed XMS" Memory (CMX512-2700C2). Original machine is an AMD Athlon 2000+ (actual CPU at 1.67 GHz) on an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard.

Machine is never stable, randomlly reboots after period of use. When random rebooting begins, cannot even load Windows XP and just reboots over and over again. Have tried memory in a Dell Dimension 4500 with similar results, slightly more stable, but still with the random reboots. Placed Crucial memory onto AMD machine (which was originally from the Dell) and AMD machine is stable.

Problem is believed to be memory problem with the Corsair. Request RMA# to begin replacement of memory.

Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have

As stated above, it is an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard.

along with the CPU speed

Also mentioned above, AMD Athlon 2000+ with an actual CPU speed of ~1.6 GHz.

and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

BIOS settings are with the auto set multiplier of 12.5, with a CPU bus speed of 133 MHz (so, 12.5 x 133 MHz ~ 1662.5 MHz). There aren't any performance settings besides the default settings as suggested by Asus for that particular CPU.

I mean, wouldn't be a safe bet if we pulled (Micron) Crucial memory from a stable, working Dell Dimension 4500 and we plugged that into the AMD and the AMD was then stable and working, and when we placed the Corsair memory into the Dell Dimension 4500 that it became unstable with the random rebooting and instability that it was the memory's problem?
