VS512MB400 Failure on K8V SE Deluxe

Recommended Posts

I am starting a new thread because the old one ( http://www.houseofhelp.com/v2/showthread.php?t=31104 ) was sufficiently long ago that I don't want to clutter things up too badly.

I am experiencing problems with my new stick of ValueSelect RAM and probably need to explore some options as I am losing faith in this line of RAM, unfortunately.

A repeat of my hardware specs:

Motherboard: ASUS K8V SE Deluxe (PCB Revision 1.13, BIOS Version 1005)

CPU: Athlon64 3200+

RAM: 512MB Corsair ValueSelect (VS512MB400 Lot # 0437011-0)

Video Card: BFG Geforce 6800 OC

NIC: D-Link DWL-G520 (Atheros Super-G Wireless card)

Power Supply: Antec NeoPower 480

Memory is set in the BIOS to 2.5-3-3-8 at 2.7V (the next step up is 2.8V and doesn't change anything)

Memtest86+ V1.50 results:

Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

I have replaced my Athlon64 3200+ with a brand-new "Retail Boxed" Athlon64 3200+ processor. This new processor, combined with my other hardware, was able to run the memtest86+ v1.50 diagnostics without a single error over several passes.

I've since reinstalled Windows XP without a "burp" and will continue to monitor the hardware for any possible issues for the next couple of weeks to a month. I'm feeling confident that the real problem was with the CPU (be it the memory controller or not) all along!

Thanks so much for your willingness to work with me on the problem. It is (and was) very much appreciated!! :D:
