bad stick of VS512MB400

One stick out of a pair of recently purchased VS512MB400 is testing bad by memtest86. I have moved both sticks to other slots and the bad stick still tests as bad and the good stick tests as good. With only the good stick installed, memtest86 shows no errors and the system runs fine.


I have contacted the the reseller/retailer where I purchased the product. Because I purchased the memory sticks as a pair, they require that I return both the good and bad sticks for replacement. Unfortunately that will leave me without any memory while waiting for the replacement to arrive.


I would like to return just the bad stick to Corsair for replacement so that I can have the use of the system using only the good stick during the replacement period.


Is this possible?
