I have some dead Cosair RAM

I have a VS256MB333 module which is dead.

The PC it was in, suddenly stopped booting. So I changed the module with another the same from a different PC and the computer booted fine. I then tried the faulty module in the other PC and that would not boot either. Conclusion, the module is dead.

I've tried contacting the retailer who sold me the memory and their phone is always engaged. They, like Corsair require a returns number, and of course if you can not speak to anyone you can't it. It's also not possible to e-mail them as they've removed that facility.

The said retailer is http://www.overclockers.co.uk

I have to post this thread so I can obtain a return's number from Corsair.

Can you please tell me exactly on what do you mean exactly by saying "it would not boot"; do you mean system will turn on but you can not go in Windows, or when you turn the computer on basically you can not see anything on the screen no post? Please tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

The PC in question is a Biostar IDEQ 200V with an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ running an FSB of 333Mhz. When I say it will not boot, I mean you turn it on and the screen stays blank. The machine was working fine for seven months, then one day, when it was switched on, it was dead. None of the standard BIOS settings have been changed and the machine has not been overclocked in any way. When I replaced the memory module was another exactly the same (ieVS256MB333) the computer worked perfectly.

I then tried the faulty module in another, completely different PC, with the same results.

The second PC has a Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard and an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ CPU, FSB @ 333Mhz. In the BIOS the “DIMM OverVoltage Control” is set to Auto.

I have built and upgraded many PC’s in the past and I know dead RAM when I see it.
