sup3rman
I purchased CMX512-4400C25PT. I get memtest errors @ 270MHz 2.5-4-4 2.7v when using both modules in dual channel. Individually the modules are good to 300MHz 2.5-4-4. I have a MSI Neo2 Plat. and Winchester 3500. I can run other ram dual channel at 270Mhz with out memtest errors. How do I determine if my ram is bad?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 15, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 15, 2005 Please make sure that you have the modules installed on either slots 1&2 or 3&4; also that you have the latest BIOS installed on your MB, load optimal/set up defaults and set the following BIOS settings; DRAM Configuration : Max Memclock: Limit or 200 1T/2T Memory Timing : 2T CAS# latency (Tlc): 2.5 RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): 4 Min RAS# active time (Tras): 8 Row precharge Time (Trp): 4 High Performance Mode : Manual Aggressive timing : DISABLED Dynamic Overclocking: DISABLED Spread Spectrum : Enabled Cool’n’Quiet: Disabled Adjust CPU Rotation: Startup Adjust AGP Frequency: 66 Adjust CPU VID 1.500v CPU Voltage: By CPU VID Memory Voltage : 2.85 AGP Voltage: 1.50V *1.6V if you have 9200 or 9600 ATI or 5200 or 5700 Nvidia card. All other settings should be left to MB default settings. Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
sup3rman
I re-flashed my BIOS and both modules pass mem test at 200mhz. But like I said before individually the modules are good for 300MHz. basically the problem seem to be with the "1T/2T Memory Timing" setting. 1T produces errors at 270mhz. I have some other modules that run 270mhz 2-2-2 T1 without errors. when I run the module together in slotes 1&2 or 3&4 [2.5-4-4-8 2.85v T1] i get between 40 - 200 error per pass on memtest #5. anyway I ran your test and there are no errors @ 200Mhz T2... What is next?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 16, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 16, 2005 200MHz is by default, you will have to changed that to which frequency you would like to set your frequency on your system; now did you change the AGP and CPU voltage as well, can you please tell me basically the performance BIOS settings that you have for both CPU, memory, multiplier that you used for the CPU, and the hypertransport settings? sup3rman
I did the following: 1. reflash BIOS 1.4 (Lastest version) 2. Loaded Optimal Default settings 3. Ran each module through 2 passes of memtest at your recommended setting. Max Memclock: Limit or 200 1T/2T Memory Timing : 2T CAS# latency (Tlc): 2.5 RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): 4 Min RAS# active time (Tras): 8 Row precharge Time (Trp): 4 Memory Voltage : 2.85 (Modules passed memtest) 4. Lowered CPU Ration from 11 to 9 5. Lowered HTT from 5 to 3 6. Raised AGP Freq from 66 to 67 7. Raised FSB from 200 to 275 8. Ran memtest (received +200 errors on test #5) 9. Lowered FSB 270 (recieved ~5 errors on test #5) Basically my 4400c25 is only good for 250MHz 1T @ 2.5-4-4. My CPU and MB run Kingston BH5 @ 275MHz 2-2-2 x 10. I have had other modules that have done 290MHz 2.5-3-3 x 9 with the CPU and MB. I can't run 275MHz even with an 8 multiplier.
sup3rman
I didn't change my CPU voltage because my CPU is good for ~2550 on default voltage.
