Mixing 512MB with 1GB ?

Hey guys, quick question. I currently have:

512 MB (2 pcs 256) DDR (400) PC-3200 Corsair XMS (TwinX512-3200C2PT)

Installed in my system P4 3ghz Abit IC7 MB. I was interested in upgrading my memory. I see the same 512mb modules for $100, but 1GB is only $159. My question is Can I purchase these 1gb modules add them to my system and run with 1.5gb?? Or will it cause some compatibility problems or weird things to happen? I do have 4 memory slots so their is no physical limitations. If anyone knows please let me know! Thanks

Please make sure they are the same part# and revision, if so then you should be fine but with 4 modules you might have to set the timings to Cass 3-3-3-8!

I would suggest just running 1 Twinx1024-3200C2 for best performance!

Thanks for the reply. The ram i have now is

Corsair 512MB PC3200 400MHz 2-32x64 XMS TwinX Dual-Channel DDR Memory 184Pin

The ram im looking at buying is:

Corsair 1GB PC 3200 2-64x64 XMS Dual-Channel DDR - #TWINX1024-3200C2PT

Do these look like the same part, revision? Because if you suggest running just 1gb i'll just pickup an extra 512mb save $60 over the $160 1gb if i can only use 1gb.

Neil,

They should list our part # Twinx1024-3200C2 and I would call them and check the revisions as they would both need to match or the system may not be stable. It would be Best to order both sets from the same place.
