Asus P4C800 Deluxe: Had 1gig cmx512-3200C2.Can't add more?

Recommended Posts

I have an Asus P4C800 Deluxe MoBo with 2 sticks of cmx512-3200C2 ram v1.2. I just bought another gig of the same ram, only difference is it is version 4.2. When I try to boot up, I dont get a warning beep or anything and my machine never boots. I thought the ram was bad but after taking the old ram out and puting the new ram in, the new ram worked just fine. I have tested all my ram slots, and they work as long as I am using either both the old or both the new ram sticks. Why are these ram sticks not compatible, or what am I missing?

I am sorry but jsteel44 is correct. With this MB and many that are on the market you would need to use modules that are exactly matched. You can try and set the memory Frequency and timings manually and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.85 Volts as well.

CPU Freq: 200 MHz

Memory Frequency: 100%/DDR400

Dim Voltage to 2.85 Volts

Resulting Frequency: 400DDR/200MHz

SDRAM CAS Latency: 3T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T
