Lupolian
I have a CMX512 - 3200C2PT XMS3202 v 1.2 Memory Module and I am looking to get another module to use for a Dual-DDR configuration. I can only find Version 1.1 and v2.0 on the market. My question is, will those versions (1.1 and 2) work with mine when running a Dual-DDR config? If not, do you know how I can get a version 1.2 memory module. Thank you, -Lupolian
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14, 2005 It would be best to match the module if the MB you have or will have is dual channel. I am sorry as most resellers do not list the revision of the products they sell, I am not sure you will be able to find a match. The best would be to find another use for the module you have now and just get a Twinx1024-3200C2 set instead.

Does this mean if I have DIMMs with identical version number in pair I should be okay in dual channel mode? i.e., slot1 cmx512-3200c2pt xms3202v4.3 slot2 cmx512-3200c2pt xms3202v1.2 slot3 cmx512-3200c2pt xms3202v4.3 slot4 cmx512-3200c2pt xms3202v1.2 If it's not the case, you can't basically upgrade because the version number usually changes in few months. It's hard to find the DIMMS with the same version numbers.
dhc0329
also when I went to the bios setting for my Intel 875PBZ i see the difference in latencies for these modules. v.1.2 2.5-3-3-8 v.4.3 3.0-3-3-8 Don't believe these value can be changed to match (3-3-3-8) What is this mean? Is lower number equate to faster access? So far, I don't see any scrashes but this does worry me a bit.
dhc0329
I also checked memory latency setting in the bios of my other system (Intel 865PERL) which uses 2GB of Value Select RAM and found the latency rating to be 3-3-3-8 as well. So I am also wondering what is the benefit of having XMS versus Vale Select? Maybe I am not understanding something here....
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 19, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 19, 2005 Yes, all of the modules would need to be the exact same revision and part# or the system may not be stable. And our XMS modules even at the same timings will be slightly faster.
