Freakeh04
I've got an ECS KS57A Pro Mobo which supports up to PC2100 RAM, now I intend to upgrade to a whole new system sometime this year but until I can gather the money I want to upgrade my RAM in my current PC. To save money I am wanting to buy PC3200 RAM so that I could use it in my current Pc and then in my new one. I am just wondering if this would work, I've been told that faster RAM will just be slowed to whatever the Mobo can support but still I want to be sure. I currently have one stick of 512MB PC2100 RAM(dunno the brand) and intend to get another 512MB stick but in the Corsair ValueSelect PC3200. Yes it'll be slowed to the boards capabilties, but mixing the RAM might bring on unwanted headaches.. good chance it'll work 100% fine as its not a dual channel setup or anything but bear in mind the RAM might not work well together. Freakeh04
Ok I guess there's always a chance even if I was getting the same speed RAM of a different brand right? Like its not really the speed thing that may cause problems but rather the brands being different?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14, 2005 I would suggest you save your money and wait till you get the MB and CPU you will get. Because there are new products comming by the end of the year, and you may end up getting DDR2 depending on the MB you get.
