Carl Melville
I have just purchased this memory and have previously used dual channel with no problems. However I have tried installing these modules into my Abit AV8-3rd Eye and if I put both modules in it just keeps emitting a loud beep every few seconds when I try to boot up the pc, also if I just put one module in it works fine, do you think one of the modules could be faulty? I have tried changing bios settings, resetting the CMOS support for faulty items is pretty useless in the UK and you tend to get charged for items if you return them and they aren’t faulty. I have checked Abits website and I think I have the latest bios settings version 17. I would be happy to hear any suggestions you could make. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 11, 2005 Please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure one is not failing. If they both pass and you have the latest bios I would suggest you get your CPU replaced as the memory controller is in the CPU and this symptom would likely be a bad memory controller. Carl Melville
I can only boot the pc with one of the modules. So i cannot test them botb. Did you bother reading the whole post?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 11, 2005 No please test the modules one at a time. Please go back and read my post! If you are saying that one module will run and one will not; then I would suggest you contact the reseller and ask to get them replaced. If they will not or cannot help you then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! Carl Melville
I think you may have mis-understood my posts only 1 module the same module allows me to boot up the PC otherwise it doesnt work. Its when i try and input the second module that i get the problems. Kind Regards Carl
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 11, 2005 Carl, I have addressed both possibilities! 1. If the modules you have will run in your system one module at a time either module, but when only using one module. That would suggest a bad memory controller and in this platform the memory controller is in the CPU. 2. If you are saying that one module works and one does not, IE you have a bad module, then I have given the directions to get the module replaced. I am sorry but it’s just that simple! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 11, 2005 Carl, Let’s go over what you have posted. Or what I understand from your posts! 1. You stated that the system would only post or run with one module? Is that correct? 2. You did make a statement about using other dual channel memory, but its not clear if that was in this MB. Can you be more specific? IE: if other modules will run in your system please list the part# and the system configuration. 3. Have you tried the modules one at a time in this system or in another system? And what was the result?

Yes it was in this MB and it was Corsair Value Select. 3. No i havent tried them in another system because i havent got another system to try them in. My system consists of Abit Av8 3rd eye Athlon 64 3000+ Corsair 512mb value select x2 Tagan 480w Tsunami Dream Case to be honest i think its just one faulty module, what is the return rate on these models? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 12, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 12, 2005 Carl First off thanks for giving me another chance, but I am still not clear on what you are trying to say! 1. Yes it will only post with one of the modules which is the same module every time. A: 1. Are you saying that one of your 2 XMS3200XL modules will work and the other one does not? Or A:1a. Or are you saying that either module of your Twinx set of XMS3200XL modules will run in your system but only one at a time, but not with both installed? 2. Yes it was in this MB and it was Corsair Value Select. A: 2. Can you tell me the part# of the set or each modules part# and the slots you had them in? This will help clarify question 1. Yes one works the other doesnt. 2. I have tried them in slots 1 & 2 and slots 3&4 as MB instructions say that dual channel can be used in either of these, i have also tried slot 1 & 3 but no joy. I know how you feel bro but ramguy is trying to help you..it's the customer service people you'll need that attitude for..lol  :greengrin Don't worry trust me you have one of the best ram there for A64, and when you get good ones you'll see what I mean. Unless, you do have a crap memory controller whcih nothing is going to help that. I had a bad set too and the new ones are EXELLENT and it whooped the OCZ PC4200 EL Platinums that cost about $100 more. You should hit at least 270mhz at 2.5-3-3-10 with them again, if you have a decent memory controller. And a good PS you MUST have a good PS none of that enermax, antec garbage. Wired
Sorry guys, but I just HAD TO :) Ram Guy: Well Carl Melville, I'm going to New York with you. You know Bookie Harris, the Yankee's manager, gave me a job as coach for as long as you're on the team. Carl Melville: Look Ram Guy, if you're the coach, you must know all the players. Ram Guy: I certainly do. Carl Melville: Well you know I've never met the guys. So you'll have to tell me their names, and then I'll know who's playing on the team. Ram Guy: Oh, I'll tell you their names, but you know it seems to me they give these ball players now-a-days very peculiar names. Carl Melville: You mean funny names? Ram Guy: Strange names, pet names...like Dizzy Dean... Carl Melville: His brother Daffy. Ram Guy: Daffy Dean... Carl Melville: And their French cousin. Ram Guy: French? Carl Melville: Goofè. Ram Guy: Goofè Dean. Well, let's see, we have on the bags, Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know is on third... Carl Melville: That's what I want to find out. Ram Guy: I say Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know's on third. Carl Melville: Are you the manager? Ram Guy: Yes. Carl Melville: You gonna be the coach too? Ram Guy: Yes. Carl Melville: And you don't know the fellows' names? Ram Guy: Well I should. Carl Melville: Well then who's on first? Ram Guy: Yes. Carl Melville: I mean the fellow's name. Ram Guy: Who. Carl Melville: The guy on first. Ram Guy: Who. Carl Melville: The first baseman. Ram Guy: Who. Carl Melville: The guy playing... Ram Guy: Who is on first! Carl Melville: I'm asking YOU who's on first. Ram Guy: That's the man's name. Carl Melville: That's who's name? Ram Guy: Yes. Carl Melville: Well go ahead and tell me. Ram Guy: That's it. Carl Melville: That's who? Ram Guy: Yes. PAUSE Carl Melville: Look, you gotta first baseman? Ram Guy: Certainly. Carl Melville: Who's playing first? Ram Guy: That's right. Carl Melville: When you pay off the first baseman every month, who gets the money? Ram Guy: Every dollar of it. Carl Melville: All I'm trying to find out is the fellow's name on first base. Ram Guy: Who. Carl Melville: The guy that gets... Ram Guy: That's it. Carl Melville: Who gets the money... Ram Guy: He does, every dollar. Sometimes his wife comes down and collects it. Carl Melville: Whose wife? Ram Guy: Yes. PAUSE Ram Guy: What's wrong with that? Carl Melville: Look, all I wanna know is when you sign up the first baseman, how does he sign his name? Ram Guy: Who. Carl Melville: The guy. Ram Guy: Who. Carl Melville: How does he sign... Ram Guy: That's how he signs it. Carl Melville: Who? Ram Guy: Yes. PAUSE Carl Melville: All I'm trying to find out is what's the guy's name on first base. Ram Guy: No. What is on second base. Carl Melville: I'm not asking you who's on second. Ram Guy: Who's on first. Carl Melville: One base at a time! Ram Guy: Well, don't change the players around. Carl Melville: I'm not changing nobody! Ram Guy: Take it easy, buddy. Carl Melville: I'm only asking you, who's the guy on first base? Ram Guy: That's right. Carl Melville: Ok. Ram Guy: All right. PAUSE Carl Melville: What's the guy's name on first base? Ram Guy: No. What is on second. Carl Melville: I'm not asking you who's on second. Ram Guy: Who's on first. Carl Melville: I don't know. Ram Guy: He's on third, we're not talking about him. Carl Melville: Now how did I get on third base? Ram Guy: Why you mentioned his name. Carl Melville: If I mentioned the third baseman's name, who did I say is playing third? Ram Guy: No. Who's playing first. Carl Melville: What's on first? Ram Guy: What's on second. Carl Melville: I don't know. Ram Guy: He's on third. Carl Melville: There I go, back on third again! PAUSE Carl Melville: Would you just stay on third base and don't go off it. Ram Guy: All right, what do you want to know? Carl Melville: Now who's playing third base? Ram Guy: Why do you insist on putting Who on third base? Carl Melville: What am I putting on third. Ram Guy: No. What is on second. Carl Melville: You don't want who on second? Ram Guy: Who is on first. Carl Melville: I don't know. Ram Guy & Carl Melville Together:Third base! PAUSE Carl Melville: Look, you gotta outfield? Ram Guy: Sure. Carl Melville: The left fielder's name? Ram Guy: Why. Carl Melville: I just thought I'd ask you. Ram Guy: Well, I just thought I'd tell ya. Carl Melville: Then tell me who's playing left field. Ram Guy: Who's playing first. Carl Melville: I'm not... stay out of the infield! I want to know what's the guy's name in left field? Ram Guy: No, What is on second. Carl Melville: I'm not asking you who's on second. Ram Guy: Who's on first! Carl Melville: I don't know. Ram Guy & Carl Melville Together: Third base! PAUSE Carl Melville: The left fielder's name? Ram Guy: Why. Carl Melville: Because! Ram Guy: Oh, he's centerfield. PAUSE Carl Melville: Look, You gotta pitcher on this team? Ram Guy: Sure. Carl Melville: The pitcher's name? Ram Guy: Tomorrow. Carl Melville: You don't want to tell me today? Ram Guy: I'm telling you now. Carl Melville: Then go ahead. Ram Guy: Tomorrow! Carl Melville: What time? Ram Guy: What time what? Carl Melville: What time tomorrow are you gonna tell me who's pitching? Ram Guy: Now listen. Who is not pitching. Carl Melville: I'll break your arm, you say who's on first! I want to know what's the pitcher's name? Ram Guy: What's on second. Carl Melville: I don't know. Ram Guy & Carl Melville Together: Third base! PAUSE Carl Melville: Gotta a catcher? Ram Guy: Certainly. Carl Melville: The catcher's name? Ram Guy: Today. Carl Melville: Today, and tomorrow's pitching. Ram Guy: Now you've got it. Carl Melville: All we got is a couple of days on the team. PAUSE Carl Melville: You know I'm a catcher too. Ram Guy: So they tell me. Carl Melville: I get behind the plate to do some fancy catching, Tomorrow's pitching on my team and a heavy hitter gets up. Now the heavy hitter bunts the ball. When he bunts the ball, me, being a good catcher, I'm gonna throw the guy out at first base. So I pick up the ball and throw it to who? Ram Guy: Now that's the first thing you've said right. Carl Melville: I don't even know what I'm talking about! PAUSE Ram Guy: That's all you have to do. Carl Melville: Is to throw the ball to first base. Ram Guy: Yes! Carl Melville: Now who's got it? Ram Guy: Naturally. PAUSE Carl Melville: Look, if I throw the ball to first base, somebody's gotta get it. Now who has it? Ram Guy: Naturally. Carl Melville: Who? Ram Guy: Naturally. Carl Melville: Naturally? Ram Guy: Naturally. Carl Melville: So I pick up the ball and I throw it to Naturally. Ram Guy: No you don't, you throw the ball to Who. Carl Melville: Naturally. Ram Guy: That's different. Carl Melville: That's what I said. Ram Guy: You're not saying it... Carl Melville: I throw the ball to Naturally. Ram Guy: You throw it to Who. Carl Melville: Naturally. Ram Guy: That's it. Carl Melville: That's what I said! Ram Guy: You ask me. Carl Melville: I throw the ball to who? Ram Guy: Naturally. Carl Melville: Now you ask me. Ram Guy: You throw the ball to Who? Carl Melville: Naturally. Ram Guy: That's it. Carl Melville: Same as you! Same as YOU! I throw the ball to who. Whoever it is drops the ball and the guy runs to second. Who picks up the ball and throws it to What. What throws it to I Don't Know. I Don't Know throws it back to Tomorrow, Triple play. Another guy gets up and hits a long fly ball to Because. Why? I don't know! He's on third and I don't give a darn! Ram Guy: What? Carl Melville: I said I don't give a darn! Ram Guy: Oh, that's our shortstop.
