Faulty Value Select notebook 2700 DDR

Recommended Posts

I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop. Specs are as follows:

3.06 ghz proc

768 mb pc2700 ddr

-1 256mb stick came with laptop (nanya)

-1 512 value select

30 gig harddrive

I was browsing the internet on my laptop when it suddenly rebooted itself. The BIOS said the amount of memory had decreased. I entered setup, and it said that the amount of memory present was 256mb, putting my suspicions on the 512 stick of value select. After several failed attempts to reboot into windows (including a stop code of 0x0000000A (0x00000000, 0x0000001c, 0x00000001, 0x804E2219)), I decided to test the memory.

I removed the existing 256 mb stick of RAM, and ran memtest86 on the 512 stick of value select. Memtest gave me 6044 errors on this stick of RAM.

I have made no changes to the hardware or BIOS in the last few months. Basically, is an RMA warrented?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Oh, both the laptop and memory are a few days short of being a year old (only 7 days left on my dell warrenty). They've ran flawlessly till now.
