LauriNyman
Hi All, I have read from a fan review that the magnetic bearing of corsair fans (e.g. ML120) could be working improperly when the fan is operated by using voltage control under approximately 9 V.. What is the case when the fan is operated by using voltage control of e.g. 4-8 V ? a) The bearing does not work properly and will fail FOR SURE in few months b) No significant effects for the fan bearing functionality c) There is not yet data available to say what the effects are
DevBiker
The ML fans require 12V to operate properly. Without enough voltage, the magnets that levitate the fan blades aren't strong enough. So they don't "float". This causes a grinding noise. I can't say how long it will take to fail but you won't want to use it that way.
