tomkelso2003
Hi, I bought a pair of twinx CMX512-3200XLPT memory modules and was thrilled with them. So, I bought another pair for a new system that I am building. I am not having good luck with this second pair. I tested the memory with memtest86+ ver 1.5 and the pair got errors. So, I tried the test on each module one at a time. One stick works perfect and one stick fails on most of the tests (2,3,4,...) giving the error bit as bit 1 ie. 00000002 I have the dimm overvoltage at +0.2 volts. timing is at 2-2-2-6 on a Gigabyte Ga-7VT600 1394 motherboard with an AMD 3000+ cpu with 333 front side bus. Memory bus is on auto but runs at 400. I don't think this can be anything but the memory module as my good twinx pair works perfect and one of these modules works perfect. I tried reseating the module but still fails. twinx specifics (on each module): CMX512-3200XLPT XMS3208v1.2 0453024-2 XMS3200 512MB 400Mhz 2 2 2 5 Can I get an RMA for this twinx pair ? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 9, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 9, 2005 Please set the memory Frequency at 1-1 or 100% and with this chipset If you install more than one module you may have run the memory at DDR266, please check the spec. In addition, I would suggest setting the Dim Over Voltage control to +.2 Volts and set the Rass to Cass to "3" and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. tomkelso2003
Please set the memory Frequency at 1-1 or 100% and with this chipset If you install more than one module you may have run the memory at DDR266, please check the spec. In addition, I would suggest setting the Dim Over Voltage control to +.2 Volts and set the Rass to Cass to "3" and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. OK, got some time and did some memory testing... Set the memory frequency at 1-1 or 266 Mhz (DDR 333). Set the Dimm Over Voltage to +.2 volts = 2.7 volts. Set Rass to Cass to 3. Result: The each memory module passed the memtest86+ V1.5 for 3 passes. The memory appears to work well as DDR 333 memory. However, since testing each memory module one at a time gives one available memory module free for other testing I tested the memory in my new system. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA - K8NS Ultra-939 Bios ver F5 (latest). Motherboard settings... HTT = 200 HT freq = 4x Max Memclock = 200 CAS Latency 2.0 tRCD = 2 tRP = 2 tRAS = 5 Dimm voltage 2.7 volts Result: One memory module tested OK for 4 passes of memtest. One memory module failed repeadly in test 5 of memtest. This same motherboard and settings works well with the other twinx pair that also work well in the GA-7VT600-1394 motherboard at DDR 400 speed. I suspect that there is a weak memory module in the twinx pair and would like to RMA the pair for a pair that works at the advertised DDR 400 speed with 2-2-25 settings. Hi, I tried to send the online form RMA request twice with no response. I just sent an Email to warranty@corsairmemory.com with the same information. Hopefully one of these methods will connect.
