ML120 Pro RGB

Good morning everyone. I'm in the process of building my first machine in about a decade. I went all out and bought two 3 packs of the ML120 Pro RGB fans so I can replace the standard ball bearing ones in my 570 crystal case. I looked into how the RGB lighting works on these fans and found out essentially each one acts like a 4 pin addressable LED strip. So I was able to take the lighting node pro, and feed it's source directly off of the addressable RGB header on my motherboard. So as a heads up to anyone with addressable RGB headers on their boards, you don't necessarily need the corsair link. I'm sure neither Corsair or Asus will support this setup, but at least for me, taking out a piece of unneeded hardware and software is worth it.

Also quick question, anyone know where I can find a 4pin to 3pin cable to daisy chain two of the lighting nodes together?

You need to be really, really careful with this. Most of the 4 pin RGB headers are 12V, not 5V and will blow your LEDs right out.

Granted, those aren't the addressable headers but we've seen many folks try to plug the Corsair RGB into their motherboard headers only to be rewarded with blue smoke.

And are you talking about daisy chaining Lighting Node Pros or RGB Fan Hubs? I think you mean the latter, not the former. Terminology matters. And you can build your own cable. See my sig for the pieces.

You are correct that you need to be careful, this is definitely a 5V header, not a 12V. And yes I meant the fan hub. I'm going to be running 7 fans total so I need to hook in another one of my hubs. I will be using standard fan splitter cables to get them all controlled by my motherboard.
