Soulsyphon
I am having fits trying to determine my problem. I have a DFI lanparty Nforce II ultra B motherboard. athlon 3000+ (400mhz bus) Twinx1024-3200c2 ram (ddr400) I understand that these matched pairs of memory were even tested on this exact board or another DFI nforce board that supports dual channel and that they are guaranteed to work at 2.5 3-3-6 on the Nforce athlon platform. Here is my story. these will work in either single channel or duel channel mode at CAS 3 only. if I attempt cas 2.5 with the recommended settings by corsair I cannot even get past post. It sometimes freezes at "initializing the DRAM frequency" and other times it goes through the post but hangs at the end. Either way I cannot run Memtest at cas 2.5 because I cannot even get to it. I ran memtest in single channel mode at cas 3 and had errors in test 5, many of them. I just ran it again in dual channel at cas 3 and got no errors. I am baffled. The settings I attempted to use are as you have recommended to others in this forum: DDR400 memclock 200mhz --I have no control over bank interleaving in my bios --I also have no control ober burst length SDRAM Cas Latency 2.5 Sdram RAS to Cas Delay (tRCD) 3t Sdram Active to Precharge Delay (tras) 6t Sdram Row Precharge (tRP) 3t 2t command rate ?? -- I cannot recall whether I saw this value or not, but I did not change it from the default. CPU FSB Clock 200mhz DDR Voltage 2.7 volts help me out here :) Soulsyphon
Wired
Try 2.8 volts.
Soulsyphon
Yes I have tried default, 2.7 and 2.8 so far. Thanks though
Wired
Do other memory work in that board @ 2.5, or does your memory work @ 2.5 in another board?
Soulsyphon
Do other memory work in that board @ 2.5, or does your memory work @ 2.5 in another board? Unfortunately my other board is only 333 mhz memory speed. This ram works at 333mhz on the other board, BUT that is at 333mhz not 400 so I am not sure if that means anything. I only have a stick of 333 mhz ram to use on my DFI board to test it, so I cannot really say whether any other 400 mhz ram works on my board. And remember please that this ram works at cas 3 but will not post at cas 2.5 at 400mhz on my DFI board. Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 8, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 8, 2005 Please make sure you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB and load optimized defaults settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX512 Or Twinx1024-3200C2 Genie BIOS/DRAM Configuration DRAM Frequency Set: 1:1 or 333MHz or 166 (if option are 133/166/200) Command Per Clock: 1T SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T Genie BIOS Clock Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU/DRAM ratio: 1:1 or 100% DRAM Voltage 2.75 volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
