CMX512-3200LL in Asus A7N8X Deluxe

I've had this setup running for over a year and only in the last few months have I noticed XP Pro getting more erratic - apps crashing, and random unrequested system reboots. So, I finally burned a knoppix cd and with it came memtest86+, so I tried it out.

When both sticks are in memtest86+ v1.20 generates many, many pages of errors. I then placed one stick at a time in the slot closest the cpu and run memtest86+ v1.20. One stick (stick 1) runs thru 2 passes with no errors, the other (stick 2) generates over 2000 errors in one pass.

RAM specs: 1GB TwinX Matched Memory Pair

CMX512-3200LL XMS3205v1.2 [ 0341086 ]

XMS3200 512MB 400 MHz 2326

MB: Asus A7N8X Deluxe

Is there another test I can do here?

thanks,

-M

I would make sure that you have the Dim Voltage set to 2.7 Volts and set the timings manually to Cass 2-3-2-6 with the Rass to Cass set to "3" and then test the suspect module again. If you still get errors please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

OK, I changed the voltage and manually set the timings and there were still errors. Now, since this is only one module of a TwinX Matched pair, do I need to send in both modules?

thanks

Well that’s up to you, but if you only send one module they would not match any more defeating the purpose of getting a Twinx set. I would encourage you to send both modules.
