Random LED strip question

All these mobo makers are putting 4 pin sites for connecting the LED strips on the boards themselves...if you put a Corsair LED expansion kit on there, can Link still control it? You plug the link USB into the motherboard for the PSU or AIO, what about the LED strip?

It would free up a USB slot on your board anyways if it works

No, you can't plug the Corsair LEDs into the motherboard headers ... at least, not the ones that I've seen (Asus and AsRock).

First, they won't fit.

Second, they are 5V LEDs and the motherboard headers are 12V.

Third, Link doesn't control the motherboard LEDs, period.

so plugging a link to USB into a USB port, Link acknowledges that and you can adjust fan's LED's etc..but plugging a RGB strip is different. I'm not arguing or anything, just wondering why (besides the power differences and the fact that they won't fit).
