Timmybhoy
I recently bought a h100 and installed it on my pc it causes the pc to continually startup then reset itself with the gigabyte post code saying bad pcu, the minute I remove the cooler it works perfectly agai. I did a rebuild in a new case and it does it again I’d this an issue with the cooler or have I messed up somehow? Specs in my profile thanks for reading
DevBiker
How do you have the cooler connected to the motherboard? Is it plugged in to the CPU_FAN header? Also, have you set the CPU_FAN header to 100% power? See this post for details: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=168801.

It’s connected to the cpu_fan header which is running at 100%, the pc runs fine when the fan is plugged in but the base is not screwed INto the cpu https://imgur.com/gallery/LYjq6 https://imgur.com/gallery/Vntz7 Apologies for the mess I haven’t had time to make it look pretty yet
DevBiker
That sounds like you might have it screwed down too tight ... perhaps using the wrong standoffs with the baseplate? The fact that you said it's fine when it's not screwed in to the CPU kinda points that way. That said, to be honest, I've not seen this myself nor have I heard of it. But, at least in theory, it makes sense.

After trying with the mobo on the bench for hours with varying tightness in still no closer, the head can rest on the cpu but as soon as the screws go on even slightly it won’t post
DevBiker
That's weird. Do you have another cooler that you can mount? Trying to determine if it's specific to the H100.

DevBiker
So now I'm wondering if there is a short somewhere? Dunno ... I'm stumped. It's ... bizarre. Don't think it'll matter but the manual does recommend having the cooler tubing towards the memory ... in your picture, you have it away from the memory (look @ step 4/Intel). I don't think that would cause a problem but at this point ... who knows? Is it pressing down on any of the capacitors (the "cans") around the CPU? Zotty
So now I'm wondering if there is a short somewhere? its Screams that doesn't it and does look close on those 2 Capacitors also. As for pump orientation.... given you can mount them upside down on gpu's etc, it cant be that... have seen them mounted all ways my self. unless the mobo is at fault (which I doubt very much) I suspect that cooler needs to return to where it came from double quick.....
