john3205
Symptoms: Computer freezes completely during games; must use reboot button. Does the same thing during video encoding, dvd burning. Freezes randomly during startup. Freezes during large file transfers, etc. Lots of "system" folder corruptions. BSODS - irql not less or equal Screen blacks out during games with sound runnin for 10 more seconds Tests: 3dmark 05: Worked on video card portion, freezes like above on cpu portion. Prime95: Rounding errors on Large FFTs and Blend torture tests. Tried lowering clockspeed which decreased CPU temp: no effect same thing happens. Had ram timings of 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 8 Raised them to 3 - 4 - 4 -11: Doesn't freeze as much but comp much slower. This has made me suspect its bad ram plus the fact it freezes on ram intensive apps. Sometimes it freezes at 23% CPU loads ruling out CPU overheat. System: AMD Athlon XP 2800 non overclocked - idle temp 50 degrees ATI Radeon 9700 512 mb corsair single ram Leadtek nforce 2 motherboard Antec 480 power supply All updated drivers
