LudoCat
Hi there I bought some Corsair ValueSelect memory to go into an old laptop: a 2x 4 kit- CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 DDR3 160205018628972 (hope that's right!) That laptop 'died' sadly before I got chance to use them, and so I am wondering if I can fit them into my replacement laptop: HP Pavilion dv6-3180ea Can anyone help me and tell me if this is possible please? I can use laptops/computers but I am totally new to building and adding parts. Thank you so much
ram1220
HP on their website says that the laptop comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and is upgradeable to 8GB. However they do not say if there are two slots for RAM or just one. I would open the laptop up and check to see if there are two slots. If two slots then install the RAM and give it a try. LudoCat
I did check - there are two slots. Removing the original 4GB was a bit tricky as the slots are totally horizontal (not hinged) and it took a short while to put the 8 GB in. Initially there was no boot up and I wondered if I had damaged the motherboard. Turns out I’d not got all the pins in full alignment/contact. So for anyone else attempting this, it is easy but the horizontal slots just need to be filled extra carefully. Thanks for your help ram1220
