sblantipodi
As title. Just curious to see if someone connects fans to motherboard to have a better "regulation"... What do you think about this?
c-attack
It's fine. If you set your fans to CPU temp, they will likely change speed and run faster than needed, but it will still do the job. An alternative on Asus X99 is to use VRM temperature with the Optimized VRM phase setting. This will work on BIOS 3401 or older, but Asus disabled it the Optimized setting in 3500 and 3700 without giving a reason. It can still work, but your effective operational VRM temp gets fairly narrow - probably 6-8C between load and idle. Ultimately which works better for you may depend on your fan control. AI Suite might makes things easier, at least in finding a comfortable range. CPU and OPT will be pretty change speed a lot when on BIOS control. snapper69
If you use Fan Xpert and set your fans to CPU temp, you should be able to set a delay (I used 10 seconds) which will stop your fans ramping up and down.
c-attack
That used to be true, but specifically on Asus x99 I and II series boards the fan delays are ignored on cpu and opt. Even on my Strix with fan delays in the BIOS as well it won’t work on CPU, Opt, and HAMP header.

fatihso
My radiator fans are running about 50% lower when connected to motherboard even slower than the silent profile on CL.
