New CM2x512-5400C4pro failed after 6hours of use

Recommended Posts

I just put together a new system with:

Asus P5AD2-E Premium Motherboard

1 set of CM2x512-5400C4PRO

With the system set to 266MHz FSB and memory speed set to 711MHz with Auto voltage and timing settings the system. After about 6 hours of testing the system locked up. After rebooting the memory is now failing the memory test. I slowed memory speed down to 533 and the memory still failed. When I switched to using 1 stick at a time I was able to find out that one module was failing the BIOS memory test and the other module is passing.

Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings;

Twin2X1024 or Twin2X512-5400C4

Advanced/Jumper Free

AI over clocking: Manual

CPU Freq: 200 (*Soon as you change CPU Freq.; Memory Freq. will automatically change*)

DRAM Clock: 533 MHz

PCI Express Frequency: Auto

PCI Clock: Auto

Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.0Volts

System performance: Auto

Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define

SDRAM CAS Latency: 4

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T

Hyper path 2: Disabled

All other settings should be set to default settings!

Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
