Bad Memory Module

I believe I have a bad memory module. The system became somewhat slugguish and I noticed the BIOS was reporting only 128 MB of RAM instead of the 256 MB it should have. I have two 128 MB Corsair Value Select SDRAMS in the system.

I pulled one out and attempted to reboot. The system Failed. I then pulled the suspected defective unit out and reinstalled the other one. The system booted, although slowly.

I then took the suspect module and installed in another system. It was not seen by the BIOS there either.

The unit is a VS128MB133, Corsair value Select.

Gigabyte GA-7ZXR motherboard,

AMD Athlon 1700+ CPU

on-board sound

3dfx Voodoo 3000 video card

DFE-530TX NIC

WD 40 GB hard drive

Sony CD-RW

Toshiba 3.5 in floppy disk drive

Antec tower with their PP-303XP 300 watt pwer suppply

Any suggestions?

The unit was purchased from Spartan Technologies, Elk Grove Village IL on 1/02/2002
