A03
About 2 months ago I purchased Athlon 64 3400 Retail Cpu with Asus K8V Standard Retail and Corsair Value Select Pc3200 512 Ram.. For about month and a half it was working great but on the Literally on the 25th of X-Mas The machine stopped working all together.. The mystery shocked me quite a bit..So I ran some tests to figure out which part was defect..I tested the parts individually and found out that Memory is defective..I need to RMA the Ram since the Retailer I got it from says their policy is only good for 15 Days..Can you believe it? So Ram Guy was wondering if you can approve my RMA? I tried everything..From testing parts one by one using a friend's Athlon 64 and once aagin as I said before Ram was Bad..Signs were Pitch Black Screen on the monitor and when I tried to turn the machine off I had to hold down the Power for 4 secs before cutting off and I tried using the Ram on My Bud's Motherboard and it was doing the same thing, I even tried his Memory on my Board and Boom it powers on.. :(:

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 19, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 19, 2005 You can also try to test the memory module one at a time or if pairs and put the memory modules either slot 1 or in pairs either on slots 1&3 or 2&3; make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB, and set the following settings on your BIOS; Advanced Chipset: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 4 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T Hypertransport: 4X Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
