Taylo
I have an Asus A8V Deluxe v.2, AMD64 3500, Twinx 1024-3200LL, and have had some stability isssues. I was wondering if you give me your recomendations for all settings related to memory for this board? This system will not be OC'd. I searched but couldnt find this combo's setting asked for previously. Also, would you recommend enabling "Plug and Play OS" or enabling bios handling, I have heard conflicting info for this board and WinXP Professional? Thanks in advance RamGuy, have a good day. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2005 Please put the memory modules on either slots 1&3 or 2&4; make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB; load optimized/set up default, and set the following BIOS settings; TwinX512 or TwinX1024-4000 Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 3T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T 2T Command Rate: Disabled Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.8 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let's make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
Taylo
Thanks for the reply ramguy, I just wanted to confirm that the memory we are talking about is TwinX1024-3200LL, and not the twinx4000pro listed in my sig, I am working on a different computer than my own and noticed that you said, "and set the following bios settings; TwinX512 or TwinX1024-4000". Please advise. Ill turn my sig off to avoid any confusion on this.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 19, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 19, 2005 Sorry yes the timings should be with the modules in slots 2-4: Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T 2T Command Rate: Disabled Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.8 Volts
Taylo
Please double check the memory slots your recomending. The manual for the A8V deluxe clearly states to use the blue slots first (A1, B1 or 1 and 3) but your telling me to put them in 2 and 4....... why? Cause Im still having issues with disk error checking and random freezing. thanks Sorry yes the timings should be with the modules in slots 2-4: Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T 2T Command Rate: Disabled Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.8 Volts
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 24, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 24, 2005 Yes, I have. And I would try just the opposite that the manual suggests. Reason is the AMD CPU white papers, and when I tested this MB I had to use these slots. But only if you are having trouble with slots 1-3!
