Tinsby
Hello! I am trying to find a memory kit for my 9 year old Rampage Extreme MB. This board is simply a Rampage Extreme, not a 2, 3, 4 5 etc. I'd like to up the total amount to 8GB which is all the board supports. I found this : CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M4X1600C9 But I don't know it it's suitable or not, I almost bought it, then thought better of it and came here for advice..I have only4 GB in the board now and the part number in my system specs is from memory I took out because it didn't match what was in there with it. Thank you very much! J T
red-ray
You need to check they work on X48 motherboards. I did a Google found some information. Looking at http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?p=878064 CMZ8GX3M4X1600C9 worked on his X48 motherboard so I expect they will be OK.
Tinsby
Hi red-ray, Thanks but your search seems to point to a newer Rampage Extreme V. It's 9 years old and I no longer have the box to identify it I don't know what x48 refers to. Many thanks, Cheerio, J Tinsby
red-ray
No it doesn't and the X48 is the MCH chipset. Look at the specs on https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_EXTREME/ One of the links I found is http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/307444-30-corsair-vengeance-2x4gb-compatibility-rampage-extreme which is about exactly the board you have.
