crackedtooth
Dear sir, System: AMD 64 3500+ Asus A8V deluxe mainboard Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPRO Normal cooling, case ASUS A600A fan+ standard cpu fan, standard bios settings, no voltage changes at all. System is unstable at times... pc was bought in aug 2004. I first thought software was to blame, but lately have checked a few times with a clean system. Memtest 86 testing did show errors however for one of the memory sticks. In dual channel mode i get errors using mem86 test. In single channel mode, the first one shows no errors at all after 8hrs testing For the second one: errors in test #7 and #5, for 144,1mb and 160,1mb, these show a number of about 7-8 errors after only two hours of testing. I use standard setting, also tried setting 2T, and the CAS, tRCD, tRP and tRAS by hand, same result...errors on while testing the second module. At this moment i am inclined to think the problem is indeed due to the memory bank.... Whats is your opinion there? And secondly, since i am in europe, are there different channels contacts should my reseller be unwilling to RMA it ? (they are sluggishly and evasive at this point) Lot # 0429033-1 TWINX1024-3200XLPRO
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2005 Please put the memory modules on either slots 1&3 or 2&4; make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB; load optimized/set up default, and set the following BIOS settings; TwinX512 or TwinX1024-3200XL Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T 2T Command Rate: Disabled Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.8 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let's make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!

Multiple errors on test #5 and #7 (144,1mb and 160,1mb) Is the RMA procedure the same for me? Location: The Netherlands, EUROPE
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2005 RMA procedure is the same for everybody, regardless on your location; unless the place where you bought it from is willing to replace or take care of it for you. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
