VAXherd
I believe one of my memory modules is bad. The system is: Asus A8V-Deluxe (Via K8T800PRO)Athlon 64 FX-55 (2600MHz)TWINX1024-3200XLPTAsus V9400-X/TD/64 videoAntec case with 350W power supply Bios settings are defaults (no overclocking, standard voltages). I am testing with Memtest 86+ v1.40 With DIMM A in slot A1, DIMM B in slot B1, I get multiple errors within 4 hours. With DIMM A in slot A1, I don't get any errors reported in 24 hours. With DIMM B in slot A1, I get multiple errors in 8 hours. The results are the similiar if I use slots A2 and B2. The system won't boot if I have a single DIMM in slot A2 or B2. What else should I try? Thanks, Clint
Wired
The system won't boot if I have a single DIMM in slot A2 or B2. That's normal for that board. It does sound like one stick is bad though.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2005 Please put the memory modules on either slots 1&3 or 2&4; make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB; load optimized/set up default, and set the following BIOS settings; TwinX512 or TwinX1024-3200XL Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T 2T Command Rate: Disabled Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.8 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let's make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
VAXherd
I've run memtest on both DIMMs individually, and as a pair without errors, so I believe they are now working. Thanks for your help! Clint
