Bad Stick of XMS3200XL ?

Hi all,

Sorry im a bit of a n00b with memory sticks! as I have never had any "suspect" problems before. :(:

My setup is as follows :

AMD Athlon 64 3500+

Asus A8v Deluxe Wifi mobo

1GB Corsair DDR XMS3200XL Plat TwinX

Antec 450W PSU

Inno3d GEForce 6800GT 256mb.

problem is, whenever playing 3d games i.e HL2, Doom3, WoW and EQ2 etc. I can only play for roughly 5-10 mins until game either freezes or boots me back to desktop with errors sometimes will even reboot. I have been through everything at least TWICE!. Case temps are good, CPU temps are fine.

Have already got replacement graphics card and still the same problem. Have updated mobo BIOS to latest version, also replaced the VIA AGP driver removal and using the stock XP version, still the same problem.

Chipset I am using on the ASUS board is the VIA K8T800Pro.

So for the last 2+ weeks I have thought it was still the GEForce card!, until I run Memtest :D:

I have tried swapping the two sticks around, still the same problem. Pc wont boot with just one of the sticks in :(:

All tests run fine apart from test number 5. sometimes It will run through ok and others I will get faulty addresses. Will return an error such as

tst pass faulty add good bad

5 6 00030724fb8 - 775mb ffcfffff ffdffff

5 6 00031724f98 - 791mb ffcfffff ffcfffff

etc,etc,etc,etc.......

as I say some passes are all ok then others cause this problem.

Any help would be appreciated, and sorry for ranting on!

Do you think I have a bad stick?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Please put the memory modules on either slots 1&3 or 2&4; make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB; load optimized/set up default, and set the following BIOS settings;

TwinX512 or TwinX1024-3200XL

Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration:

Memclock Mode: Limit

Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400)

Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled

Burst Length: 8

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T

2T Command Rate: Disabled

Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control:

AI Overclock Tuner: Manual

CPU FSB Clock: 200

DDR Voltage: 2.8 Volts

AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!*

All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let's make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
