Pete223
Hi I currently have a system with the following setup: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Processor 800MHz FSB (Prescott/LGA 775 Socket) Intel D925XBC Micro ATX Motherboard (supports 533 MHz DDR2 memory in dual channel mode). Corsair Twin2x 4200 DDR2, 512MB PC4200 memory (4-4-4-12 @ 533 MHz). Sapphire ATI Radeon X800XT 256MB DDR3 PCI-Express. 2 x Western Digital 360GD 36.7 GB 10000 RPM SATA150 Raptor hard drives in Raid 0 configuration. Antec Neopower 480W ATX PSU. At the moment I would like to know what would be the best memory to buy for my computer without degrading performance - I would like to buy an extra 512MB to bring my memory upto the 1GB mark. Currently I play a lot of Everquest 2 and find that I have to defrag my hard drives frequently using Diskeeper Lite, and reset my computer to refresh the memory during long playing sessions. My motherboard supports the following memory configurations: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-011965.htm The question is should I go for another twin 256 MB pack or a single stick of 512 MB, & furthermore will adding a higher rating memory such as xms2 5400 alongside my xms2 4200 memory increase my comp's performance?. Or would the 5400 memory just run at a slower speed? If so should I buy value select memory instead?. Also will my mobo be able to run higher spec memory upto 5400 since my manual specifies memory at 533 MHz. Please Please help! :o: Cheers Peter.
