Unpromtped
I've been using a pair of these sticks for almost a year now without issue. Recently the system has become very unstable. memtest quickly helped me narrow it down to one of the sticks, which I'd like to RMA now, please. It's an MSI Master2-FAR motherboard. With the "bad" stick in slot 1, errors show up in consistent places in memtest. With the "good" stick in slot 1, I haven't gotten any errors from memtest, and the system has been stable so far. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2005 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
Unpromtped
It is an "MSI Master2-Far" (Microstar, model 9130) motherboard. It has two Opteron 240 (1.4GHz) processors, The FSB is only running at 200 MHz. DRAM timing and voltage are both set to "Auto," and Chip-Kill ECC Mode is enabled. I'm not doing anything special performace-wise.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 18, 2005 Chip kill will only work with a by 4 memory module, and you should have master ECC and DRAM ECC enabled. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
