Eskimo
I need a RMA for this memory stick. My computer would reboot during time when I increase my memory usage. The memtest I ran had memory errors at 240mb and 480mb. My system Specs are: Shuttle AS45GTR Bios: SIS 648 6A7I0H2bC-00 date 12/28/2002 P4 2.4 400Mhz FSB CPU Frequency at 166MHZ (DDR 333) CMX512-3200C2 ATI Radeon 9700 All my performance setting are default. Wired
By memory usage do you mean when placing more stress on your system? Also, with a 400 Mhz Intel FSB (NOT 800), the memory normally should run @ 200 (not 333 or 400).
Eskimo
By memory usage do you mean when placing more stress on your system? Also, with a 400 Mhz Intel FSB (NOT 800), the memory normally should run @ 200 (not 333 or 400). Sorry I mistated my FSB it's 133. The memory I have is running at DRAM frequency of 166 (DDR 333) The problem is that at 166 when I run Memtest this stick of memory has errors. When I tried to run this same stick of memory at 200 (DDR 400) my computer does not boot up. At frequency of 100 (DDR 200) there are no errors when I run Memtest. Yet the memory should run at the frequency of 200 Mhz since it is rated at CMX512-3200C2.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2005 Please set the memory frequency at 133 or 1:1 ratio, since it is always recommended to run the CPU and memory in sync at all times, and there is no way you can run the memory speed at 400MHz without having to use a 400MHz FSB AMD CPU. I can run the memory at 1:1 ratio just fine but the purpose of purchasing faster memory 3200 is to be able to run at a faster memory frequency. The memory should be able to run at 2:3 or 199 and from the memories current rating I would not be overclocking or pushig the memory module at all. Please help me to understand why I should lower my memory performance when both the memory module and my motherboard supports it?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2005 Again, it is always recommend at all times to run the memory and CPU FSB frequency in sync; so to answer your question is because due to the fact you have a 266+ FSB CPU speed, which is why you have to run the memory module in a 266MHz FSB otherwise it will just cause a bottle neck to the chipset and will probably run it at PC1600 (DDR200.)
