chris719
I have a first revision 3200C2 DIMM and the SPD reports the module as being PC2700 not 3200 because of the JEDEC standard not being final when it was produced. This causes my Asus A8V to force DDR333 speeds even if I set it manually to DDR400 in the BIOS and turn all auto options off. Asus tech support tells me that there is no way around the SPD detect on the A8V and that I should get a new DIMM. This appears to be accurate, when I use a 3200LL module from another computer it runs at DDR400 no problem. Is it possible to swap my 3200C2 for a newer revision of it? Thanks, Chris
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2005 Please put the memory modules on either slots 1 or 3; make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB; load optimized/set up default, and set the following BIOS settings; CMX512-3200C2 Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T 2T Command Rate: Disabled ECC Configuration Master ECC Enabled: Disabled Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let's make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
chris719
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried all the settings you suggested but this still does not allow the board to run it at 200 MHz. I can run it higher than 166 MHz if I resort to overclocking the bus speed but I would rather not overclock the bus speed so much.
chris719
Not sure if this helps but I managed to borrow a stick of crucial pc3200 and it does run fine at 400 MHz , along with my 3200LL.
