awbassett1
I just received new memory from an RMA today (RMA# R67686). I popped the new memory in and ran Memtest86+ when they were in dual channel configuration and single channel configuration. Both tests yielded 20000+ errors in only about 15 minutes of testing before I turned it off. I've done all the work that was told to me in the old post (i.e. change voltage, change CAS timings), and still get the errors. I tested the modules separately and both receive a few hundred errors in the first few minutes of running memtest86+ Here's my setup: Asus A7V880 Athlon 3200 2xVS512MB400 GeForce 6800 Here is my previous forum post: Forum Post What's the deal? Wired
Did you replace both or just one in the RMA?

Wired
Tried testing those modules in another system? It's really hard to get more than one bad stick, let alone bad ones from an RMA.
rebyte
Hi Awbassett1, I think it's not your memory. I experience the same problems as you have. The A7V880 is picky with memory and the AMD 3200+ is also not to happy with all components. This is what I've tried so far to 'test' the separate components: A7V880 with my old 2000+ proc -> runs ok! A7V880 with my 3200+ proc -> system unstable A7N8X with my 3200+ proc (on 333MHz!) -> runs ok! A7N8X with my 3200+ proc (on 400MHz!) -> system unstable A7V333 with my DDR400 Kingston memory -> runs ok! As you can see, all components can work perfectly, but not together... Of course I also ran memtest86 to test my system, but after a lot of reported errors, even that program crashed! I have two friends running the same proc on a A7N8X with DDR333 memory and their systems are rock stable. Tonight I'm gonna test my system with DDR333 memory. This is my setup: Asus A7V880 Athlon XP 3200+ 2xKVR400X64C3A (Kingston on the ASUS mem. comp. list) GeForce 6800
awbassett1
I am having a friend test out the modules and run memtest on them. I will report back with the results.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 18, 2005 No problem, and I would double check that there is not a jumper setting that may need to be set when using a 200 FSB CPU.
awbassett1
I don't see anything in the manual for the jumper settings. This ram is listed on the compatibility list at both corsair and asus's websites. Is there memory that people have gotten to work with the a7v880 that is not vs512mb500? Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 19, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 19, 2005 They should not be a problem with this MB. Can you test the modules in another system?
awbassett1
yes, i posted above im having a friend test it in his system. I will reply with the results.

awbassett1
Ram Guy, Do you have the correct timing info for the VS512MB400 like posted in this forum thread? http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33521 I know you've posted a few before, but I'm wondering if some of the other values need to be changed as well. DRAM Timing (overrides SPD values): Manual System Performance: Normal SDRAM Bank cycle time (or tRAS): SDRAM Bank Interleave: SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): SDRAM RAS-to-CAS Delay (tRCD): SDRAM CAS Latency: Command Rate:
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 20, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 20, 2005 Well we do not guarantee the timings for Value Select like with XMS. But you can try and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and try these settings. Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T
awbassett1
I had a friend try the memory sticks one stick at a time, and in dual channel configuration. Dual channel configuration yielded 39,000+ errors in ~35 minutes. The sticks in one at a time produced 10,000+ errors in about 20 and 25 minutes on each stick. I will file the RMA.
