VS256MB133A and IBM 300GL 6563-66G?

Hi,

Just bought a memory module of Corsair (value select, VS256MB133A, Lot# 0449034-0) but my pc does not seems to like it.

I first put the old 64MB module (also 133 Mhz SDRAM) in slot 0 and the new module in slot 1, the pc boots bot when loading Windows it restarts... over en over again :[pouts:

The I removed the 64 MB module and put the new module in slot 0 and after that in slot 1, the pc does not boot... it stops/hangs with bios loading.

What can be the problem? Faulty module? of incompatibility? When I check the bios in the first configuration (64mb ánd 256 mb modules in pc) the bios seems to know how much memory in total is installed.

Help!

The information that I can find about this system suggests that you may need to use a module that does not have an "A" in the part# or VS256MB133.

But this systems looks to be made for out of the USA only so information is sketchy at best!

It is an IBM sold in Europe. I do not know if it's a out-of-USA-pc or not. The only information I have is that there should be 133 Mhz SDRAM modules used... it is not specified which types.

Also the 64MB module installed now is also a single-sided module... should this mean the "A" part should work also (normaly speaking)?

No, a 64 Meg module that is single sided if it were fully populated would be a 128 Meg module. The MB or chipset will not see higher density IC's used to make an "A" Version of a 256 Meg module. Please just make sure the module you use no matter who's you use is a double sided module with 16 IC's and you should be fine!

The 64MB module installed is a real single sided module, there are 4 chips on 1 side, the other side does not have any chips.

When they do not have a double sided 256 module (without the "A"), can I use 2 128 mb single sided memory modules, or will this not solve the problem?

I have been to several shops in my town, but there are no memory modules for sale that are double sided :[pouts: The shop (MyCom) where I bought the single sided VS256MB133A module does not sell the part without the "A" :sigh!:

Where can I find this module in the Netherlands? I hope you can help me!
