3 sticks of CMX512-3200C2PT

Recommended Posts

Prime95 continually fails with 3 sticks of CMX512-3200C2PT in a DIF Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb and AMD 3200+ set at factory settings.

CAS Latency tRCD tRP tRAS Volts Failure

2.5 3T 3T 6T 2.7 8min

2.5 4T 4T 6T 2.7 54min

2.5 3T 6T 3T 2.6 5hrs46min

What has worked

Removed 3rd stick and ran at settings 1 and 3, ran with no failures 12hrs.

Tested the 3rd stick alone at settings 1, ran with no failures 8hrs

Currently running two sticks at setting 1. Expect it to pass.

1942 crashes to desktop. I also got twice a blue screen of death containing: pfn_list_corrupt (or something like that).

I have tested one stick with Memtest (passed). Two others I will test individually tonight. I am thinking of testing one stick in mem slot 3 after.

By the way, I have the latest bios as well.

Ok, I ran Memtest.

Each stick tested individually in mem slot 1 passed 6-38 times all tests 0-9.

With the 3 sticks in Test 5 failed 13545 times and Test 7 failed 329 times with 210482 failures overall. This was with settings #1 from above.

My next test will be 1 stick in mem slot 3. I am assuming 2 sticks, any combo, in slots 1&2 will work but I will test if I have the patience.

Ok, here is what I have gotten to work so far with 3 sticks. Mind you I will be running the full Memtest overnight.

I played around with the DRAM settings until I could get tests 5 & 7 to work. If I set the DRAM to 180mhz it runs as DDR360 then I reduced the latencies to:

CAS Latency tRCD tRP tRAS

1.5 1 1 1

This is running as 2T and at 2.6v. Both 5 & 7 passed. I will post the results tomorrow.

The Memtest ran for 7hrs 9 passes all good. Again, the settings are 180 (DDR360) rather than 200 (DDR400) with 1.5 1 1 1, voltage of 2.6 (default) and the 2T timing. I started Prime95 and I expect 10hrs+ of passing results.

Now, the question is:

Is 1.5GB of DDR360 running at 1.5 1 1 1 better than 1GB of DDR400 running at 2.5 3 3 6?

For the money I paid I feel like it should run as DDR400 but I just can't get it there. I probably won't even notice the difference coming from a 2.2Ghz Sager laptop.
