Stability with twin banked XMS 512-3200C2PT

Recommended Posts

Hi, I hope someone can help... whenever I do anything demading to the hardware like play Counterstrike etc, I keep getting random crashes resulting in memory dumps.. This is only the case when I run my TWIN XMS 512-3200C2PT in twin banked DDR slots.. it runs (obviously slower) but completely stable with just 512 in the primary slot.

My motherboard's the Asus A7N8X Deluxe and I'm not running in slots that can't be twin banked..

Can someone sugest some bios settings for the memory section? Or perhaps it's something else that's causing it?

Dont know what info you need, but I can provide you with any if u ask.

Well this board should load default settings and run this RAM with no problem.

Here are the RAM settings:

DRAM Clock: 166 MHz

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T (2.5 on AMD platform)

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4 Bank

All other settings are motherboard defaults.

This would run the RAM at 333MHz to run in sync with your CPU's FSB.

Are you running the CPU at 333 or 400MHz?

The 2 blue slots would be the ones to use for Dual Channel.

You could run Memtest to check the RAM.
