oliver
I have 2 modules of PC3200C2, which specified timings are 2-3-3-6 with intel platforms. But the SPD timings table give the default values 3-3-3-8, as for ordinary PC3200 module (as shown with CPU-Z 1.26) ! To give the right values I have to disable the auto-SPD timings configuration in the bios and give the "right" values myself. I don't understand why the values specified by Corsair don't match with the ones written in the SPD. When I give the right values, the system is stable but I get lower score with PcMark2k2 !!! What's wrong with my RAM ? Thanks in advance.
oliver
I forgot to mention : MB : Asus P4P800-E Deluxe (BIOS Version 1004 BETA 001) CPU : P4C 3.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 7, 2005 Oliver, This is in the data sheet, but all of our modules that end with a C2 designation will have their SPD set to JEDEC defined values for the IC we use to make that specific part. The tested settings would need to be set manually as listed in XMS Qualification and Testing!
oliver
OK I Understand. But why do I have lower score in PcMark2k2 with the 2-3-3-6 latencies ? Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 7, 2005 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200C2 Advanced/Jumper Free AI over clocking: Manual CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 400 MHz Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.75 Volts System performance: AUTO AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 Memory Acceleration Mode: Auto USB Legacy Support: Disabled All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! oliver
I tested the RAM with the settings you told me with memtest => OK.Then I launched PcMark2k2 and my Memory Score...dropped by more than 1,000pts compared to the result with 3-3-3-8 timings ! (from 8686 to 7660 and I dit the bench three times) :(: That's a bit disappointing for C2 RAM...I really don't understand
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 7, 2005 Probably more of a chpset issue, you might play with the settings and see what actually yeilds you the best results and I would verify the results with like Everest 1.5 as well.
