2ndLaw
Is the ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe Compatable with Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, (Twin Pack) 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-4000 with Platinum-Silver Heat Spreader(c/p from newegg) out of the box? Your website lists them as compatable but the ASUS website lists the mobo as only supporting PC3200. I bought the two anyway on the suggestion that i could always overclock the memory controller to support higher then default specs, But if the memory controller is in the CPU, why does asus list supported ram. I ordered a FX-55 for this system and i want to know if these will work (either out of the box or with overclocking) asap so that i can send back the ram if necessary, thanks in advance for your help! Wired
The motherboard still has to support the speed of the memory as the memory slots are on the motherboard. The 4000s can be underclocked to 3200 speed, and the board can overclock to the 4000 speed. Dunno if the CPU can though.
