Need help installing H100i V2

So I am upgrading my system with new MB and this is first attempt at using water cooling. Upon opening the box I got a bit confused by the various connectors. Attached to the pump are: a small wire with a 3 pin female connector and a larger wire with 2 male connectors - one 3 pin and the other 4 pin. Both emanate from the pump housing. There is also the link USB cable. So this is my dilemma. How do I connect the two 4 pin female FAN connectors [PWM]? Do they connect directly to the MB [doubt this] or to the one 4 pin male connector of the100i? Via a Y connector? Or, one fan to the 4 pin and the other fan to the 3 pin and then connect to the MB via the 3 pin female connector attached to the 100i? This is confusing since both fans are PWM and need a 4 pin connection. The directions in the manual are really not helpful.

Thanks so much for you input.

What you need to do is:

  1. Connect the 3 pin female connector to the motherboard CPU_FAN header
  2. Connect the two fans to the 2 male connectors - one 3 pin and the other 4 pin
  3. Connect the USB cable to a motherboard USB 2.0 header
  4. Entry the ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger BIOS and disable fan control for the CPU_FAN header. To do this you might need to set it to run at 100% all the time. It's also a best to set it as a "PWM fan". This is needed to the H100iV2 get the constant +12 volts it needs to operate.
  5. You should not use AI Suite as this causes issues for Corsair Link 4 as specified in http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118371

the MB kept telling me there was a CPU fan error.

You should not get this as one of the H100iV2 fan speeds should be reported to the CPU_FAN header.

How do you have the BIOS configured?

Select [PWM mode] rather than [Disabled] and see of a CPU_FAN speed is then reported by the BIOS.

Hi...i was having the same question in my case. You should follow the same as suggested above connect the 3 pin female connector to the motherboard CPU_FAN header,Connect the two fans to the 2 male connectors - one 3 pin and the other 4 pin also connect the USB cable to a motherboard USB 2.0 header.

From what you have posted I gather you have an issue, but can't suggest what it might be. To have any chance I need to know which motherboard you have and it would be helpful if you used http://forum.corsair.com/forums/profile.php?do=extra to setup your PC specs.

If I could see the BIOS screen this might help, can you post a screen shot?

I guess you have installed CL4, so also post the CL4 [Home] tab screen shot as this may also provide some insight.

See http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=853900 for how to attach a file/screen image to a post.

In the PC specs you have MSI Maximus IX HERO when it should be ASUS Maximus IX HERO so you should correct this.

CL is not listing your cooler at all. Does Windows detect it? Check Devices and Printers and/or Device Manager for a Hydro Series 7289 USB Device. Is the USB cable connected?

How is the CPU_FAN header configured in the BIOS? Ideally post the BIOS screen shot.
