steven975
I have 2 sticks of 512MB CMS512-XMS3000C2, one is v1.1 the other 1.4 and a socket939 Nforce3 MSI K8N neo2 platinum. The 1.1 dimm will not post with my K8N neo2 at all, the 1.4 works fine. I have tried adding voltage and shuffling ram to different sockets. I am also using the latest bios. I did a search and someone else had an identical problem on the same board and was offered an exchange. It seems v1.1 doesn't work with this board. Any suggestions? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 3, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 3, 2005 Well its not the Rev 1.1 will not work just you cannot mix memory with this platform. I would ask you reseller if they will let you return these and get a Twinx set instead. You would need to use 2 modules that are exactly the same revision and part# or the system may not post! Sorry but that is a limitation of the memory controller.
steven975
Actually this is not a dual-channel issue. Sorry, the exact PN is CMX512-3200C2. One is v1.1, the other 1.4. The problem is not that they won't work together, it is that the v1.1 will not work at all. I put only the 1.1 in and the system will not post. (on a side note, the 1.1 was always finicky on my old Nforce2 board in that it would only work on the closest slot or it wouldn't post).
steven975
I have also tried the 1.36 bios you mentioned in this post (this guy had the exact same problem, v1.1 not working at all). http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31749&highlight=msi+k8n+1.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 3, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 3, 2005 Let me put it this way. Rev 1.X is no longer available and we will be happy to replace any module that is not working at it's advertized spec for the life of the module. However, if you get a new module it may not work with what you have now. With AMD64 you would need to use 2 modules that are identicle or the system will not post. For the RMA: Please follow the directions under "I think I have a bad module" under this forum or if you have trouble, Please send us a email with a copy of the form or all of your info name address and phone# and the Module part# and copy the link to this post and email it to Rma@corsairmemory.com. If after 1 day or 24 hours excluding weekends you do not get the rma please email the same to warranty@corsairmemory.com and we will help to resolve it. steven975
I realize that if I were to replace the v1.1 memory with a later revision it may not work in dual channel with my v1.4, but I guess that's just a risk I'll have to take as the v1.1 doesn't even work on its own. Thanks again.
