Jeff
These memory sticks have performed wonderfully for years but they seem to have finally given up the ghost. ;) Stick #1: CMX256A-3000C2 XMS3000V1.1 It will run for anywhere from 1hr to 6hrs and then cause three of my machines to just reboot. I have a fourth machine I could try it in but I'm just about positive I know the result. Stick #2: CMX256A-3500C2 XMS3502v1.1 This stick acts really strange. It will work fine for up to a couple hours. Then it will cause the computer to reboot and upon reboot the stick is no longer recognized... instead of having the expected 512Mb(2x256Mb)... only 256Mb is recognized by the BIOS and Windows. Again, I've tried this in three different machines and all of them produced this same result. BTW, two of the computers I'm testing on are based on the Asus PC-DL motherboard and one is based on an Epox 8RDA+. On the Asus boards I've tried 166MHz and 200MHz FSB and on the Epox I've tried a whole range of FSBs... ranging from 180MHz to 220MHz. Voltages have also been varied from 2.5v to 2.8v without making a difference. Thanks for your time RAM GUY, Jeff
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 3, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 3, 2005 Are you trying to mix the modules on the same MB? If so that may be why you are having this issue. With PC-DL you would need to use modules that are exactly matched. I would suggest you test the modules one at a time at their tested settings which you can get from Archive XMS Settings Here! Jeff
No, no no. Sorry for the confusion. The rigs these were originally in were giving me fits. Trying them individually on all the different boards listed is why I'm 99.9% sure the modules are bad. I'm now using some newer TwinX in one rig and some HyperX in another and things have settled down nicely.
