IceFrog
Hi. I've been having stability issues recently. I ran memtest86 and on test#5 i get errors. Do i have a bad chip or just wrong settings? AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (1.520v) Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe (not using SLI just yet, latest bios update) Memory: -------- Frequency: 201.0 Mhz CAS# Latency: 2.0 RAS# to CAS# Delay: 2 RAS# Precharge: 2 Cycle Time (Tras): 5 More Detailed Specs @ http://www.coe.neu.edu/~aismail/specs.html Edit: Also, i set the ram voltage to 2.8 and test still failed at #5. Thank you for your time.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 4, 2005 I would try testing the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and if they both pass one up then I would try and set Rass to Xass to "3" and see if that does not solve the problem. Also what slots do you have the modules in?
IceFrog
I thought i had fixed the problem by changing the "1T/2T Memory Timing" from auto to 1T because it passed the memtest. However after running a second test, it failed. I still get frequent fatal errors and system crashes. Before i run tests on singles and both i want to make sure my settings are right. Currently i have: Max Memclock (Mhz): DDR400 1T/2T Memory Timing: 1T CAS# Latency (Tcl): 2.0 RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): 2 Min RAS# active time (Tras): 5 Row precharge Time (Trp) Auto Master ECC Enable: Disabled I was running the test from memtest86.com but will now run the one from memtest.org after i confirm the proper settings to test. Thank you for your help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2005 Please change the TRP to 2 instead of AUTO, please set all the settings that I have specified accordingly, otherwise incorrect combination will cause your system not to work properly. IceFrog
I tested with trp 2 as was my very first test, and still failures. I have the memory in DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1. I'm now testing them seperatley to see if either works alone.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2005 Please try to test the module on DIMM slot 2&4 as well!
IceFrog
The guide tells me that if i have 1 stick, i should install it in DIMM_B1 only, if two, then DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1. I tested both sticks by themselves in B1 and to my surprise one of them passed it (with many many itterations), however the other failed at first pass in repeated tests.
