antikz187
Hey Guys, Im running a MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR (MS-6570G), TWINX512-3200C2 (paired). Processor is a AMD Athlon™ XP 2600+ (333 FSB) Model 10. Ive managed to overclock it to a AMD Athlon XP-A, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 2900+. With Memory timings of 2.5-3-3-8 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS). But default memory timings of TWINX512-3200C2 should be 2.5-3-3-6? Just wondering what u guys think? Thanks for ur time! Willz
kec789
WHen you overclock and leave it at SPD it will adjust your timings when you mess with the FSB and mulitplier. Those timings aren't that bad, but if you want to tighten them up, go ahead and do it and see if things remain stable. I have that same mobo and doing so is quite easy in the bios. Change things to manual and then enter what you want timing wise. Then run a few tests through Sandra and see how it effects performance. Oh, first do a run through with SiSoft Sandra and write down your memory score...then tighten up the timings. Tighter timings don't always equate to better performance. antikz187
Well ive come up with this so far. CPU Multiplier = 12.5 CPU FSB = 166mhz Memory Bus = 200mhz CPU Clock = 2087mhz = XP 2800+ VCore @1.75 Timings are at 2.5-3-3-8 I upped the VCore a little bit. Is that ok? ohh.. the CPU Temp is @47 Degrees Willz
jsteel44
Put it back to 2000MHz, 10x200, thats far faster than 2087 via a 166MHz Bus, plus running 166 cpu and 200 memory might actually decrease performance in Socket A systems, its better they were in synch with each other, i.e 166/166 or 200/200. Would not carry the cpu voltage up much more than that, also, do you actually require that voltage to be stable? most 2600+ cpus would do 2Ghz at default voltage, if you don't (test with prime95 for 24hrs in torture mode) then theres no point as you're just making extra heat and decreasing your cpu life. kec789
Precisely what I was gonna say Steele.....good advice you're givin there. A higher FSB will stomp a higher multiplier any day.
